8 Details to Instantly Elevate Your Wedding

Wanting to add that extra detail to your wedding day, but not sure what you’re missing? We’re sharing 8 ways to instantly elevate your wedding day with thoughtful and budget-conscious details. We hope you’ll be inspired!

  1. Custom Creative Signage

Beautiful signage is the perfect way to personalize details of your day that guide guests through the celebration. From welcome signs to order of events, you have a few opportunities to showcase your day’s details in a creative way.

When it comes to impact pieces, a beautiful seating chart or escort display and bar signage are great places to start!

Who to work with? We love Creative in Bloom, La Papeterie, Pickle Prints, and Jess Laidig Creative.

2. Groom’s Details

Custom cuff links and embroidered additions help make his wedding day ensemble unforgettable. We love the opportunity great menswear gives for unique features. Some of our favorite tux shops include Louie’s Tux Shop, Ivry Lane Gown & Tux, and Sophia’s Bridal & Tux.

3. Thoughtful Guest Favors

Out with the old: expensive, often-forgotten, trinkets; in with the new: guest favors your loved ones will actually use (bonus if they can use during the ceremony and/or reception).

Many couples opt to forego favors entirely, understandably! Our recommendation is to invest in an item or feature that will be used, or otherwise can be reused, and/or looks great in photos! Equip your secondary bar with simple initial logo cups, and use the rest at home. Fans, available in a basket or placed in guest seats, are perfect for outdoor summer ceremonies. Sunglasses are another cute favor to have available, and make for great reception photos!

Remember, you don’t have to customize everything with your name and date, and often you can reallocate a bit of your budget from customizing hundreds of individual favors to one large, beautiful feature everyone can enjoy, like a customized photo wall or dancefloor.

4. Intimate Rehearsal Dinner

Your rehearsal dinner is traditionally an opportunity to connect with your nearest and dearest before saying your vows- this means you don’t need to make the guest list almost half that of your wedding day! Intimate rehearsal dinners can be so special, allowing you and your person to spend one last occasion together as fiancées. Keeping your guest list tight allows for you to make this dinner an elevated experience, as you can focus on quality over quantity.

*By the way, The Sixpence does offer rehearsal dinner packages to our couples! If you’re interested in hosting your rehearsal dinner with us, alongside your included walk-through, inquire with your venue manager.

5. Add a Second/Outdoor Bar

After the ceremony: the knot is tied, some tears are shed, and the wedding party recessional occurs, your guests will be heading straight for a refreshment. Adding a secondary bar, to serve beer and wine or non-alcoholic refreshments, is a great way to prevent the bar area from becoming over-congested, and keep the party flowing before the reception begins!

6. Floral Installations

An instantly impactful way to elevate your wedding celebration is by investing in a few large floral installations that set a distinct mood and theme. Guests will take photos in front of these pieces, and it’s a great way to carry your wedding colors throughout the evening. If you’re conscious of your floral budget, consider chatting with your florist about re-using ceremony floral arrangements for the reception and opting for smaller bud vases at guest tables to allow for a larger focus on bigger pieces.

Just a few florists we love? Bluebell House Flowers, Wedding Florals by Patty, Ethereal Florals, and JP Parker.

7. Arranged Transportation

Elevate your own wedding day/weekend experience along with that of your wedding party and family by pre-arranging important rides, whether it’s to or from your venue. Especially for out of town guests, this is a huge courtesy and opportunity to ensure your timeline runs smoothly.

Local transportation partners we highly recommend include Halo Concierge and Aadvanced Limousines.

8. Ambiant Lighting

A simple but impactful way to truly set the tone during your wedding reception especially is paying attention to lighting. If your celebration runs into late evening, strategically placed twinkle lights, along with soft uplighting, can really transform your space. Be sure to connect with your DJ and decorator/florist about lighting options to ensure to take full advantage of their services!

A few recommended Sixpence DJs who offer uplighting: MAC Events, Higher Love Entertainment, and Track 7 DJ.

In the end, however you choose to design your day should be true to you and a reflection of your love story and style!

At The Sixpence, our goal is to support you in hosting the event of your dreams.
