It’s easy to lean into the traditional, especially when there’s so much classic wedding inspo available. A conventional celebration day can be so beautiful – and the wedding tradition has countless facets that can add a sense ceremony and sacredness.
On the other hand, customized choices can create a celebration that’s a true reflection of you and your style! In this blog, we wanted to highlight some unique and creative choices you can explore when planning your wedding day, if you’ve got the urge to make some out-of-the-box choices.
Get Colorful
Don’t be afraid to introduce some strong color into your day. We love a palette that includes striking or unexpected color choices. If you love hot pink or neon green, consider including these tones in your palette – it doesn’t mean you have to go extreme! Touches of bright colors can make your decor interesting and unique. We love Kelsey’s choice to have bright, striking oranges in her florals and to have amber tablescapes with brown linens.
Create a Timeline that Works for You
You should always lean on the recommendations of the professionals you work with on your wedding day when it comes specific timeline logistics, but when you structure your day, feel free to make choices that work best for you!
A daytime wedding can be beautiful and allows for travel (or more celebration!) time after the formalities are complete. Alternatively, an evening ceremony allows for time in the morning for a bridal party brunch or other activities.
You can plan for first looks and couple portraits directly after hair and makeup if you want to hang out as a couple during the rest of portraits and enjoy a glass of bubbly together. Alternatively, you can save the first look for the aisle, and plan to slip away as newlyweds post-ceremony while guests enjoy cocktail hour.
Ultimately, the timeline you choose should work best for your preferences! A great planner can help guide your desires into reality with a perfect timeline for your day.
Make it Your Own
From processional music, to dessert choices, allow yourself to explore unique ways to make your day an undeniable reflection of your style and preferences. There are components of wedding day that are expected, but that doesn’t mean you can’t make them your own.
If you want to go down the aisle accompanied by both your parents to an instrumental version of your favorite Guns N’ Roses song, you should!
If you want to spend the morning getting ready with just your significant other while the rest of the wedding party preps as a group, you should! (The Sixpence’s overnight accommodations at The Homestead are perfect for this).
If you decide a mingling and dancing reception makes more sense for you than a full seated dinner, opt for cocktail tables, passable bites, and lounge corners to make your reception feel more like a social party!
If you can’t imagine saying “I do” without your friends who couldn’t physically make it to the ceremony, work with a great AV partner who can stream your ceremony and pre-plan for a seamless way to include those who love you – even from afar!
Whatever ways you choose to plan and celebrate your day, let it be breezy and exciting! Lean into the unique ideas you have for your day and don’t stress about what’s not as important to you (that’s what the professionals are for!)
