Congratulations on your engagement! You’ve taken the first step towards a lifetime of love and happiness with your partner. However, planning a wedding can be an overwhelming experience, especially if you are not sure where to start. In this blog, we will help you navigate the post-engagement phase and guide you through the next steps in planning your wedding.

The first thing you should do is set a budget. This will help you determine how much you can spend on your wedding and allocate funds to each vendor accordingly. Once you have a budget in place, you can begin the fun part: choosing your vendors.

First and foremost, you should book your wedding venue as soon as possible. At Sixpence Wedding and Event Space, we recommend booking your venue at the very least 12 months in advance (more if you’re looking to tie the knot in peak season, between May and October) to ensure availability. This will also give you plenty of time to plan the rest of your wedding around your chosen venue.

Next, you should book your wedding planner, if you choose to have one. A wedding planner can help you with everything from choosing vendors to creating a timeline for your big day. It’s best to book your wedding planner around the same time as your venue.

After your venue and planner are secured, it’s time to start looking for your other vendors. These include your photographer, videographer, caterer, florist, and DJ or band. We recommend booking your photographer and videographer at least 9-12 months in advance, as they tend to get booked quickly. Your caterer and florist should be booked around 6-9 months in advance, and your DJ or band should be booked around 6 months in advance.

As for your wedding dress, we suggest starting your search around 9-12 months before your wedding. This will give you enough time to find the perfect dress, as well as allow time for any necessary alterations. Don’t forget to also schedule hair and makeup trials around this time!

In addition to the vendors mentioned above, you may also want to consider booking a transportation service, renting furniture or decor, and arranging for hotel accommodations for out-of-town guests. If you’re booked with us, be sure to reference your Booked Couples Pack and online portal to find our favorite recommendations!

While planning your wedding, it’s important to stay organized and keep track of your vendor contracts and payments. You may also want to create a wedding website to keep your guests informed about your wedding details, such as the date, time, and location.

Planning a wedding can be stressful, but it doesn’t have to be! By following these guidelines and booking your vendors early, you can enjoy a stress-free planning process and focus on enjoying your special day. At Sixpence Wedding and Event Space, we are dedicated to providing a beautiful and stress-free wedding experience.
