Rehearsal Dinner Ideas

Ideas + Inspiration

Your wedding rehearsal dinner is an important part of your celebration: it’s the time for gathering your closest friends, families, and wedding party to meet and mingle prior to your big day!

We wanted to share some creative and memorable rehearsal dinner ideas to help you envision a celebration perfect for your love story –

  1. Keep it Casual with a Food Truck

Who says the rehearsal dinner has to be a sit down affair? The idea behind this event is to bring close friends, family, and the wedding party together to mingle and celebrate prior to the big day. We love the idea of keeping things casual with a food truck – here are a few of our favorites:

  • Grace Truck
  • Indy Fresh Pizza Truck
  • Three Dolls Co.

  1. Family Style Dinner

Another take on rehearsal dinner is to opt for a family-style dinner. Instead of individual plated meals, let your guests naturally interact by serving large portions at a banquet style table.

  1. A Dessert and Charcuterie Soiree

Ditch a full dinner plan altogether by opting for a rehearsal of light bites! Serve up charcuterie and dessert selections, and opt for cocktail tables instead of traditional seating to ensure everyone gets a chance to enjoy meeting each other in an environment a little less formal than a seated affair. This is also a great option if you have guests coming in from out of town with staggered arrival times, as it’s easy to create a drop-in feel.

  1. Game Night

This is a great option particularly if you’re hosting a small gathering for your rehearsal dinner. Instead of a traditional dinner, host a game night! Did you know you can rent The Workshop for a casual rehearsal dinner or bachelor/bachelorette party?

During the summer, you can set out yard games and light up a fire when the sun goes down. Inside, set up a few tables with playing cards your favorite games. Put a rom-com on in the background, and enjoy an easy-going evening with your loved ones. With activities like this planned, you can just serve up some easy snacks and desserts. Toss some sodas, beers, and seltzers in an ice bucket for self-serve, and you’re good to go!

  1. Brunch or Midday Tea

Who says you have to host a dinner for your rehearsal meal? Host a brunch gathering or afternoon tea and allow your guests to enjoy light bites and sips while mingling and celebrating. We love this idea to avoid a late night prior to wedding day – everyone can enjoy the gathering without crunching sleep the night before your big day!

However you decide to celebrate your rehearsal meal, our wish is to give you just a few ideas; and the encouragement that your celebration is unique to you, so you should celebrate it exactly as you wish!
