You deserve to have the wedding of your dreams – a day of celebration that is a true reflection of your unique love story! In our forever mission to help supporting you in designing your dream day, we interviewed real couples to get the scoop on their wedding regrets – Read on for wise words from those who came before:

Things Couples DON’T Regret
- Splurging on incredible food
- Choosing a venue that has overnight accommodations for loved ones (P.s. have you checked out The Homestead at The Sixpence?)
- Hosting a live band & string musicians
- Hiring an amazing & reliable photographer/videographer
- Working with a professional Planner/Day of Coordinator (!!!)
- Creating a must-have photo shot list for photographer
Our biggest takeaway? Spend your attention/money/time on the things that matter most to you. If you’re excited about delicious food on your big day, make sure you prioritize catering! If you’re envisioning a wedding day photo of you with your mom and grandma, make sure you tell your photographer. Put your personal vision at the forefront of your wedding day planning, and you as a couple will walk away with the fewest wedding day regrets! Communicating your needs and what’s important to you to your professionals is important, along with working with great vendors who help guide you in a seamless planning and hosting experience (hugely: a great planner).
Biggest Wedding Day Regrets
From the mouths of real couples:
- Inviting too many people
- Not doing a first look
- Spending money on cold sparks
- Not hiring a videographer
- Paying for (and stressing over) stationary that didn’t end up getting used
- Not doing a hair & makeup trial ahead of time
Our biggest takeaway? Don’t forget to go with your gut… Honestly, it’s the most likely cause of the above regrets. And our expert opinion tends to be: your wedding day is a pretty big party to host. Lean on great professionals to worry about the logistics, so you can focus on the things that truly matter to you.
Make your guest list *your* wedding day guest list – whatever that means to you. Do a first look if you want to do a first look (your photographer will certainly thank you). Don’t spend money on things you’re not excited about (i.e. cold sparks – we love them but maybe they’re not worth it to you!). Capture the day in videography if you’re excited to see precious memories captured in motion (we highly recommend). Beautiful stationery is important, but is it worth stressing? Don’t forget the power of pretty signage.. And if you’re paying for makeup on wedding day, it makes sense to get the look done beforehand so you know you’ll love it! (Tip: Maximize your practice glam by scheduling engagement photos that day.)
