Preferred Vendor: Duet Floral

Preferred Vendors

We’re delighted to present Duet Floral as The Sixpence Preferred Vendor of the Month this May. We’ve had the honor of working on quite a few projects with this talented floral team, as well as serving many clients together!

A Harmonious Floral Experience

A few things we love about Duet?

  • Duet stands out for their creative and striking floral designs – always reflecting a true blend of artful expertise and the clients’ vision!
  • Professionalism + kindness are clear priorities to Duet, and we’re consistently impressed with the gentle, helpful, and straightforward support they lend to clients and partners.
  • We just love the story behind Duet’s name – paying homage to owner Katherine’s relationship with her twin sister, Kristin. This spirit of shared creation and collaboration continues through the way Duet approaches wedding day floral design with their couples!

Duet knows how to bring unique style together with expert design. For Francesca + Brandon’s wedding on the patio ceremony space at The Sixpence, they designed gorgeous white, shell pink, and green arrangements to compliment the joyous occasion. (Oh also: bubbles on the way back down the aisle? So cute.)

Darling + Dynamic

We love a strategic couple + professionals who can make a big impact with their work! Duet coordinated for these gorgeous ceremony pillars to come inside for reception to adorn the head table – and we love it!

The Sixpence asked: What floral ideas + floral designs are inspiring you this season?

Katherine, Duet Floral: “I’m currently super inspired by using pops of red. Red has officially made its comeback. It dominated the fashion scene and was prevalent on Instagram in interior design. Now, it’s making its mark in luxury events, particularly in florals and decor for weddings.

But this DOES NOT mean using tons of red roses like Valentine’s Day. Instead, I love using red as a very intentional accent color—a carefully placed moment of impact rather than the entire theme of the day.

When using red in design for weddings, I try to model the “red theory” of interior design. An unexpected pop of red can elevate the vibes and bring life into the venue without going overboard. This could mean using unique red blooms, red candles, or simply using red in some but not all places.

If you use red smartly in your wedding design, it has a stunning effect—bold enough to make a statement but not so much that it feels cheesy. It can really make your event stand out, especially at the Sixpence since it’s such a bright venue.”

Above, see Duet’s thoughtful and enticing red floral design for our Vegas-inspired moment at Fresh Focus. Her use of pale green, cloudy blue purple, bright red, and blood red is just TOO GOOD!

We love the idea of just using impactful moments of red for your design, for that romantic and exciting feel.

The Sixpence asked: What’s your tip for Sixpence clients wanting to make an impact with their florals?

Katherine, Duet Floral: “Consider what moments are most meaningful to you. What photos are you most excited about? What do you see first when you close your eyes and picture your wedding?

Focus your floral budget on those elements and GO BIG rather than putting little bits of flowers all over the place.

Floral budgets can quickly spread thin if you have a big event. Friends and family, as well as the Internet, will tell you that you “need corsages” or you can’t skip the cocktail table florals. In reality, that is just not true.

Maybe you skip the boutonnieres for 13 people and instead get a really cool bar arrangement because guests will spend more time in that location. Maybe you have bud vases for your centerpieces because that allows you to get a bigger, cooler ceremony installation. (Bonus: Ask your florist what types of ceremony installs can be reused at the reception as well!)

Lean on your florist for recommendations. We can help you strategize ways to keep the bigger, more impactful pieces. Don’t sacrifice your vision to appease other people’s opinions.”

Bright & Beautiful

Duet’s design for Jenna + Bobby’s day packed so much playful, stunning color. We also just adore those big potted arrangements on the head table – gardenworld dream!

The Sixpence asked: What sets Duet apart from other florists?

Katherine, Duet Floral: “At Duet, we are truly partnered to our clients for wedding design. You don’t simply order flowers, pay an invoice, and never talk to us again. We work alongside you without limits to our meetings or calls. You have my cell number to ask questions and/or text inspo pics. We can recommend additional decor like liens, tablescape rentals, and furniture that help improve the overall design.

In our initial meeting, we create a design plan together, which we continue to edit as more details get finalized. We deliver digital mockups of your installations and centerpieces so you really see what your decor will look before your wedding day.

Beyond that, we care a lot about the little details. We meet with you 4-6 weeks before your wedding to finalize your flower order. We share an in-depth design plan with event layouts, floral mockups, and your blooms list. We text preview photos of your flowers the week of your wedding to get you excited (along with a surprise gift). On the wedding day, we provide free photo flowers for your photographer, and bring napkins to dry off your bouquets and keep your dresses dry.

After the wedding, we also send along a thank you gift because we know how important a wedding day is, and we always appreciate being trusted to bring your vision to life.”

The Sixpence asked: Any hot tips for engaged couples ready to book their florals?

Katherine, Duet Floral:”Keep in mind that most wedding florists book out 18-12 months in advance! If you are getting married in a peak season month (May-September), reach out sooner rather than later to ensure you get your preferred designer.”

The Sixpence asked: Okay here’s a fun one: What songs do you currently have on repeat when you’re building arrangements or planning floral design?

Katherine, Duet Floral: “At the moment, I’m on an Audible kick. Rather than listening to music, I’m currently listening to the newest Emily Henry Book, Great Big Beautiful Life. I’m also shamelessly an ACOTR and Fourth Wing fan. I’m in a book club here in town, and I’m always interested in book recommendations if you have them!”

“The Sixpence is incredibly easy to work with as a vendor. We share a lot of the same values, especially when it comes to creating a one-of-a-kind client experience. When I receive an inquiry from a Sixpence client, I always feel excited about the opportunity to work there again. Truly one of the best venues in Indiana.” – Katherine, Duet Floral
