Sarah & Jack’s day captured by Avery Troxel

You know those wedding photos that just perfectly encapsulate the theme, energy, and romance of that moment? Well we’re on a mission to help make sure your wedding day photos are exactly what you’re imagining. Here are some secret (and not-so-secret) tips to ensure your album is everything you’ve dreamed and more.

Prepare Accordingly

There are so many things happening wedding day morning, so do yourself a favor and plan ahead to put all your detail items aside for your photographer (in a box may make sense!) Morning of detail photos are beautiful, and a great opportunity to showcase meaningful items that may not appear in other captures from the day. Here’s your quick list:

  • shoes
  • veil
  • ring box, rings (don’t forget to clean!)
  • perfume, cologne
  • jewelry, watch, cufflinks
  • wedding suite, invitation, save the dates
  • loose flowers for flat lays
  • Bonus: extra fabric, personal details, heirlooms, handkerchiefs, etc

Think All of the Light (& Locations)

Your photographer will be delighted to capture your memories in a space that has lots of natural light and pretty indoor and outdoor photo spots. While you will look *stunning* regardless, your photo and video will come out best with minimal artificial light. Knowing your venue has a few backdrops you love, whether inside or out (ideally both!), is icing on the cake.

Do Your Homework

Be kind to your visual artists: provide your list for family portraits (with names) at least 2 weeks out from wedding day. Portrait time with Mom, Dad, the grandparents, aunts and uncles, siblings, nieces and nephews, now just the bride… It gets crazy, as you can imagine. Giving your photographer a comprehensive list of what groupings you need will allow them to guide the portrait process as seamlessly as possible on wedding day.

Speak Up

If you have a special vision for your wedding day gallery, whether it be a focus on certain elements, people, or moments, let your visual artists know! Communication is key when it comes to ensuring your photographer walks away confident in the services they provide you, and you walk away with an album you’ll adore for years to come.
