Best Dressed Guest

(It’s not a real award, but maybe it should be?)

Yes, the age-old outfitting recommendations when it comes to wedding day still stand: don’t wear white, don’t upstage the bride.

Don’t wear white unless the dress code specifically indicates. Realistically, you’re looking to avoid bridal-esque outfitting of any kind.

Don’t upstage the bride by wearing flashy, excessively revealing or dramatic outfits. Again, dress code as indicated on your invitation, venue, and location are key factors in guiding your outfit choices for the wedding.

That being said, weddings are a time of celebration and modern couples are getting creative with the ways they curate this event for their guests. They’re spending money to host a beautiful day and capture it with professional photo and video, so it makes sense to want their guests looking their best.

As a wedding guest, you shouldn’t be expected to be an entire new outfit for every wedding you attend, and dress guides are incredibly helpful in providing visual references that inform what you can incorporate from your wardrobe, before you shop!

The rise in dress guides for weddings has presented couples and guests a unique opportunity to be on the same page in an aesthetic and modern way that makes sense for this special day. There are endless options when it comes to curating direction for your guests – Here are a few of our favorites:

Black & White Chic

A black and white dress code is a classic option for your wedding day. There are a few great variations, like all black or neutral tones. We love the way every image from wedding day is instantly elevated with the clean backdrop of coordinating guests.

Bold & Memorable

Bright, bold dress guides are so much fun, and give your guests the permission and opportunity to wear statement pieces that they might not otherwise choose for a wedding. Whether you’re thinking jewel tones or art house, eccentric prints, your loved ones will instantly feel like guests of honor if they have the opportunity for a fashion statement.

Luxe & Linen

A take on the quiet luxury aesthetic, a great guest dress guide for mild climates especially is one that leans into linens, and elevated casual materials. Think Palm Beach meets Nantucket meets the South of France – light tones, luxurious materials, flowing shapes, and effortless class.

Modern Bohemian

Every few years, we see various takes on bohemian trends in weddings. Whether incorporating Western-inspired leather and crochet touches, or vintage lace and retro elements, bohemian means different things to different people, so visual references are key. Dress guides like this ensure your guests will have dreamy snapshots from your day, and add an organic versatility to your backdrop.
