An Insider Interview with Sixpence Bride, Mya
Q: What was your favorite part of your wedding day?
My favorite part of my wedding day was seeing my husband for the first time. We have known each other since we were 3 and have been dating for about 4 years. I just loved getting to see my forever when I walked down the aisle.
Q: One quick tip for future brides?
Invest time in finding ceremony music that is meaningful to you!! I walked down the aisle to a rendition of the same song my mother in law walked down the aisle to when she got married. It was so special to both of us. My father in law is a musician and he wrote the rendition of the song that was played at the wedding. My family also did all of the music for my ceremony. It was so amazing to be able to share my family’s talent with my closest friends and relatives.
Q: A favorite thing about hosting at The Sixpence?
My favorite thing about hosting at The Sixpence is the unparalleled hospitality. Each member of The Sixpence team was willing to help at any point during my special day. To add, The Sixpence adds a level of luxury to weddings that is simply iconic. I will forever be obsessed with the quality of the venue and all that it entails.
The Sixpence Wooded Ceremony Space offers a sun-dappled natural space for couples to say “I do” surrounded by hundred year old maple, sycamore, and oak trees. Sitting on poplar pews, your loved ones can enjoy a serene escape as you say your vows, before heading inside The Sixpence barn to celebrate your reception.
Q: What is one moment will you remember from your wedding day forever?
One moment that I will remember forever about my big day is that we had Purdue Pete introduce the bridal party during the reception. My husband and I are students at Purdue and are avid basketball fans so it was a super fun addition to our wedding!
