From the details that caught our eye to the moments we’re still thinking about, we’re opening up our summer diaries and revisiting four real weddings from the season.

Claire and Clayton

Claire and Clayton brought timeless summer elegance to The Sixpence for their July wedding, pairing soft blues and crisp whites with lush florals and refined details throughout the day. From Claire’s lace-trimmed veil and sleek bridal look to Clayton’s navy suit and monogrammed cuff, every element felt effortlessly classic.
Their ceremony transformed the patio with an abundant installation of white and blue blooms, creating a romantic frame against the surrounding summer greenery. Inside the barn, the palette continued through powder-blue linens, patterned napkins, gold flatware, glass chargers, white florals, and touches of greenery. A blue-patterned cake table and floral installation above the sweetheart table tied the entire reception together.
The finishing touch? A vintage Rolls-Royce for the newlyweds – perfectly suited to a day that felt polished, romantic, and timeless from beginning to end.

Karla and Vince
Karla and Vince’s summer celebration was bursting with color, personality, and playful details. A lush floral installation transformed The Sixpence’s outdoor patio ceremony space with soft blues, pinks, peaches, yellows, and lavender, while mismatched floral bridesmaid dresses and summery guest attire carried the cheerful palette throughout the day.

Inside the Sixpence Barn, colorful bud vases and pastel taper candles brought the garden-inspired look to the reception, while personal touches, including dinosaur cake toppers and larger-than-life cat faces on the dance floor, made the celebration unmistakably theirs. From the sweeping view of the space from the balcony to dreamy portraits beneath the trees, Karla and Vince’s wedding was a beautiful reminder that wedding celebrations can still have plenty of personality.

For Sarah and Danny, summer color took center stage against the natural beauty of The Grotto wooded ceremony space at The Sixpence. Their outdoor ceremony embraced the setting rather than competing with it, pairing the warm wood ceremony setting and surrounding greenery with overflowing florals in shades of pink, coral, blue, yellow and white. The result felt wonderfully whimsical – bright and playful, but still completely at home in the landscape.
That same sense of color carried through the details of the day. Sarah’s embroidered floral veil was an especially memorable touch, trailing delicate wildflower-inspired blooms down the aisle and tying beautifully into her colorful bouquet and ceremony florals. Even Danny’s boutonniere echoed the palette, creating little moments of color throughout their wedding-day looks. Their furry friends visited The Sixpence Grotto ceremony space, adding an extra-sweet and personal touch to an already joy-filled day.
Summer inspiration to steal: Let your venue provide the neutral backdrop, then have fun with color. Against The Grotto’s greenery, warm wood and relaxed outdoor setting, Sarah and Danny’s mix of cheerful florals and embroidered details felt intentional without losing any of its playfulness.

Kristen and Dakota embraced everything there is to love about a summer wedding in Indiana with a beautiful outdoor lawn ceremony surrounded by lush greenery. A few light showers rolled through just before they said “I do,” but the rain only made the grounds feel greener and more vibrant. Their soft summer palette of powder blue, crisp white, and fresh green complemented the natural setting perfectly, from the bridesmaids’ blue gowns to the hydrangea-filled bouquets.
After the ceremony, Kristen and Dakota made the most of the property’s expansive green lawn for portraits – including a few romantic photos beneath a clear umbrella as the last of the rain passed through. The white exterior of the barn created another timeless backdrop for portraits while keeping their fresh blue-and-green color palette at the forefront.
Inside, the celebration kicked into high gear as guests took to the black-and-white checkered dance floor. After first dances and cake cutting, Kristen and Dakota along with their guests packed the floor and danced the night away – the perfect ending to a classic summer wedding that made the most of both the indoor and outdoor spaces.
